I was scouring the spice cabinet this morning looking for something to throw in a pot to make a nice potpourri. Here is what I came up with! It certainly takes the chill off a crisp late fall morning!
3 or 4 Cinnamon sticks (4″)
3 Bay leaves
handful of whole cloves
1/2 lemon, cut into slices
1/2 orange, cut into slices
1 quart water
Throw it all in a pot, bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer and let it go for an hour. Check the water level and add more as needed.
If you just want to do one whole orange, you can skip the half lemon. I do this when I’ve got an orange that might be a bit past ripe:-)
